Members of the Scottish Expedition training team based within the Battalion are offering a basic-level theory course to provide basic knowledge and skills, particularly in areas such as map reading and navigation skills for Leaders and Seniors, with little or no previous knowledge in expedition work.
This 3 part session will take place across the following Wednesday evenings:
25th February
4th March
11th March
Time: 7.30pm – 9.30pm
The intent of running a series of evening sessions is to allow delegates to practice skills in the weeks between to consolidate learning and to allow any follow-up work or queries to be answered during subsequent sessions.
A practical session to practice skills on-the-ground, likely in the Pentland hills may be arranged separately with delegates thereafter.
The course is also available to seniors, ideally suited for those looking to progress in advanced awards, including the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme. This may be particularly suited where there is currently no expedition knowledge or experience available within the Company but a desire amongst seniors to progress in these award areas.
If you have any queries about the course, or would like to register to attend please email the office@thebb-edinburgh.org.uk by 11th February 2026.
