Queen's Badge Certificate Presentation 2016/17

Posted on: Thursday, June 08, 2017

21 young people from Boys’ Brigade Companies in Edinburgh, Leith & District were presented with Queen’s Badge Certificates at a special presentation ceremony in Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh yesterday.

This year, 21 Queen's Badge young people spent on average of 110hrs volunteering.  That's an incredible 2,311hrs in communities across Edinburgh and Midlothian.

The young people’s achievements were marked with each receiving certificates from Baillie Norman Work, The City of Edinburgh Council.

The Queen's Badge is the highest award that may be gained by a member of The Boys' Brigade and this year 470 young people from across Scotland have completed the award.

The award aims to challenge and equip the individual, provide new opportunities and expand horizons while remaining accessible to young people of all abilities. The Queen's Badge offers the chance to engage with the local community, take on responsibility, set personal goals, build self-confidence and experience a sense of achievement. The work is carried out over a 12-18 month period.
