Nearly 100 young people from The Boys’ Brigade will form a Guard of Honour for The Rt. Hon. Lord Hope of Craighead, Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. Lord Hope will inspect the Guard of Honour at St Giles Cathedral on Sunday 22nd May 2016.
The event is expected to attract around 250 spectators over the course of the morning, to watch Company Section & Senior Section Boys from across Scotland parade. BB Boys from East Ayrshire, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Inverclyde, Lanarkshire, West Lothian, Stirling and Strathkelvin will all participate. The event will also feature the Pipes & Drums of Edinburgh, Leith & District Battalion The Boys’ Brigade, and 1st Tulliallan Boys’ Brigade Band.
The Guard of Honour will parade from The Mound to Parliament Square; and from Parliament Square to St Andrew’s & St George’s West Church, where it will attend the 11am service. The service will be conducted by The Very Reverend Dr Andrew McLellan CBE, Brigade Chaplain. After the service the Guard of Honour will parade past St Andrew’s & St George’s West Church to St Andrew’s Square North, where it will be dismissed.
In 1932, the Battalion provided its first Guard of Honour for the Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
The Battalion has provided a Guard of Honour for the Lord High Commissioner on an annual basis since 1953.
