10 Boys & 11 Leaders from 10 Companies across Scotland took part in a Canoeing / Kayaking Training Weekend at Craggan Outdoor Centre, 24th – 26th June 2016.
The training weekend was organised by Edinburgh, Leith & District Battalion (ELD) and run by the Boys’ Brigade Canoe Club (BBCC).
The weather for the weekend turned out better than expected. Participants were split up into groups according to their previous experience and most followed either the Paddlepower Passport or 1 Star training syllabuses to develop their personal paddling skills.
Well done to Blair, Adam, Euan, Calum and Torin for achieving their British Canoeing (BC) Paddlepower Passport. Also, well done to Michael, Lachlan, Jack, Fraser, Norrie, Laura, Stephen, David B, Craig, Drew, William, Ryan and Gary for achieving their BC 1 Star.
The intermediate paddlers; Graham, David & Lewis spent time refining their personal paddling skills, developing their coaching techniques, and delivering sessions to other participants.
The weekend was such a success that the BBCC has suggested holding a follow up training weekend next Session. Watch this space.
Thanks must go to the following organisations / individuals:
- Boys’ Brigade Canoe Club – for coaching the participants
- Abernethy Ardeonaig – for lending us some equipment
